Fundraising Campaign for New Humanity Foundation Eco Community, Yoga, Meditation & Longevity Center in Crete, Greece

Campaign Overview

The New Humanity Foundation is developing an Eco Community, Yoga, Meditation and Longevity Center on a 1,500 sqm or larger plot of land in Crete, Greece, with a building capacity of 250-450 sqm. The center will feature a yoga and meditation hall, longevity clinic, accommodation option, communal spaces, supporting facilities, and an organic vegetable garden.

Phase 1 (legal setup and land scouting) is in progress. The fundraising campaign targets €650,000 to fund the purchase of the property, ecosystems, longevity clinic devices, furnishings, landscaping, and operational setup.

Nestled between the majestic White Mountains of Crete, our chosen location offers an idyllic setting for an eco-community and meditation retreat center. Just a 10-minute drive from a charming seaside town with its picturesque beaches and vibrant local culture, the location blends tranquility with accessibility. The location is also conveniently situated only 40 minutes from an international airport and 30 minutes from the authentic town of Chania, known for its historic Venetian harbor and bustling markets. This serene haven provides the perfect backdrop for sustainable living and transformative retreats, surrounded by Crete’s natural beauty.

Project Timeline: 36 Months

Completed Phases

  • Phase 1 (In progress): Legal Setup and Land Scouting (€10,000)

    • Prepared legal entities, New Humanity Foundation in Malta, and New Humanity Life non-profit organization in the United States, for fundraising needs.

    • Consulting a Greek lawyer, notary for local operations. Opened a local bank account.

    • Conducted location scouting and feasibility studies to identify a suitable land plot.

Next Phases

  • Phase 2: Property Acquisition (€420,000 | ~65% of total)

    • Objectives: Secure an existing property meeting the criteria (plot ≥1,500 sqm, existing building(s) with 250–450 sqm capacity suitable for adaptation).

    • Key deliverables:

      • Purchase of the property (minimum €400,000 allocation for the asset itself).

      • All associated costs: notary fees, transfer taxes (typically 3–11% in Greece), registration, lawyer fees, and initial due diligence (structural survey, title check, environmental assessment).

      • Confirmation of zoning allowing wellness/yoga/meditation/longevity activities and organic garden use. Timeline: 3–6 months after identifying the right property in Phase 1. Fundraising focus: This is now the largest single phase. Launch a “Secure the Sanctuary” Founders’ Circle campaign. Highlight the immediate ownership of a ready-to-adapt Cretan property. Donor perks: Naming rights for key areas (e.g., garden, main hall), priority access to future retreats, virtual/property tour updates, and recognition as foundational supporters. Target high-net-worth individuals, wellness philanthropists, and family foundations. Milestone: Property fully owned and transferred to the Foundation.

  • Phase 3: Permitting, Planning, and Initial Adaptation (€60,000 | ~9% of total)

    • Objectives: Obtain necessary approvals and begin light structural/functional adaptations without new builds.

    • Key deliverables:

      • Architectural plans for reconfiguring existing spaces (e.g., converting main areas into a yoga & meditation hall, communal spaces, and basic accommodation rooms).

      • Permits and approvals from Greek authorities (change of use if needed, health/safety compliance for wellness activities, environmental for the organic garden).

      • Initial site work: basic clearing, access improvements, utility upgrades/connections if required. Timeline: 4–7 months (leveraging the existing Greek legal team to navigate local bureaucracy efficiently). Fundraising focus: “Prepare the Space” mid-tier campaign with 3D visualizations of the adapted layout. Seek grants for eco/wellness projects in Greece/EU. Perks include website recognition and progress reports.

  • Phase 4: Renovation and Eco-Upgrades (€100,000 | ~15% of total)

    • Objectives: Transform the existing building into a functional, eco-friendly center through renovation only.

    • Key deliverables:

      • Interior and exterior renovation: flooring, walls, insulation, natural/eco-materials where possible, passive cooling/ventilation suitable for Crete’s climate.

      • Creation of dedicated spaces: yoga/meditation hall, communal areas, supporting facilities (kitchen, bathrooms, storage), and initial accommodation options (e.g., guest rooms within the existing footprint).

      • Basic sustainability features: water harvesting, solar-ready wiring, composting setup. Timeline: 6–12 months (phased to allow partial use during works). Fundraising focus: “Renovate the Heart” – the core transformation phase. Use matching campaigns, corporate sponsorships from yoga/longevity brands, and donor events. Regular photo/video updates from the site. Milestone events at key completion points (e.g., hall ready, accommodation habitable).

  • Phase 5: Equipping the Longevity Clinic and Furnishings (€40,000 | ~6% of total)

    • Objectives: Install essential wellness technology and make the space operational.

    • Key deliverables:

      • Longevity clinic devices (professional but scaled setup: infrared sauna, red-light therapy, PEMF, basic biohacking tools – focused on modular, movable equipment).

      • Furnishings: yoga props, meditation cushions, beds/linens for accommodation, communal furniture, kitchen equipment.

      • Supporting systems: Wi-Fi, basic AV, safety compliance, and accessibility features. Timeline: 2–4 months (can overlap with late renovation). Fundraising focus: “Equip for Vitality” – appeal directly to biohackers and wellness enthusiasts. Potential in-kind sponsorships from device companies. Perks: named equipment and free introductory sessions.

  • Phase 6: Landscaping, Organic Garden, and Ecosystems (€15,000 | ~2% of total)

    • Objectives: Develop the outdoor regenerative environment on the existing plot.

    • Key deliverables:

      • Organic vegetable/permaculture garden with irrigation and soil preparation.

      • Landscaping: native Cretan plants, meditation paths, outdoor yoga areas, biodiversity enhancements.

      • Ecosystem elements: rainwater collection, composting, natural shading. Timeline: 3–5 months (can run parallel to renovation). Fundraising focus: “Grow the Garden” – visual and community-oriented. Micro-donations via “sponsor a bed” or “plant a tree,” plus social media challenges and volunteer days.

  • Phase 7: Operational Setup and Soft Launch (€5,000 | ~1% of total) + Contingency

    • Objectives: Finalize readiness for community use.

    • Key deliverables:

      • Initial staffing and training (caretaker, facilitators, basic admin).

      • Operational systems (booking platform, insurance, protocols, marketing).

      • Soft launch: pilot retreats, workshops, and open community days. Timeline: 2–3 months post-renovation. Fundraising focus: “Launch the Community” – final push with storytelling and recurring donor program for sustainability.

  • Total: €650,000 (Phase 1 €10k + Phases 2–7 €640k). A built-in contingency (5–8%) can be distributed across phases or held centrally for unexpected renovation discoveries (common in older Cretan properties).
